Should library use digital gadgets to provide information on different topics? Pros & Cons
These days, with the development of information technology, libraries are also computerized and it has become a growing trend to see Library providing students numerous opportunities to update their knowledge in numerous fields. I strongly agree with the above statement. This essay will elaborate on both aspects, including positive and negative, Thus, lead to a plausible conclusion.
At the outset, there are number of benefits which can be attributed to the involvement of the digital devices and these have been introduced to make functions efficient. Digital devices helpful for the smooth functioning of libraries. Library catalogues as well as all the book issuing processes are computerized and some other related activities such as calculating fines is easily happened through computers. Moreover, not only these libraries can store hundreds of e-books in a single device like e-book readers and tablet devices, but they can also read them later more conveniently without worrying about storing in large space. Therefore, using digital technologies make the lives of library staff as well as users easier.
Another pivotal facet of the argument is that all of the library users are not proficient in the use of modern technology, and it becomes difficult for them to get the information they have been looking for. For example, statistical data shows that, about 70 percent of library users are either children or older adults. Therefore, non-computer literate people face many difficulties while operating high tech devices
To recapitulate from the arguments, one can conclude that despite having some drawbacks, the advantages of using digital gadgets in collecting information from the library are indeed too great to ignore.
