Many university students live with their families while others need to live away from home because their universities are in different places. What are the advantages and disadvantages of both situations?
Because of study at university, there are many students who need to rent a house. University students are no longer a child. While the other of these young generation prefer to continue staying with family. There are pros and cons in both of these decisions.
There are indeed numerous benefits of studying in home town universities. Living with families may help students to reduce the financial burden. As well as, students don’t need to worry about accommodations. As family members live together often give protections to each other. Therefore, students are safe in their own home. On the flip side, being protected by family may cause students lack of their real-life skills, such as time management, surviving without certain technology etc. Moreover, because of the distance of university from home, it would take time for student to travel. Sometimes, due to the uneasy weather condition, students are probably to be late for school. Therefore, living in comfort zone might make students passive and lazy.
Students living away from home have more freedom compared to when living at home. Students make their own decisions. They are more self-independent. They can spend time in doing mostly whatever they want. However, because of not being mature, the youngsters might face difficulties in new life. Support in necessary incidents from families are hardly immediate accessible. For example, students, like partying or drinking alcohol, should be aware of that their parents can no longer take care of them. Finally, we cannot ignore that living alone is expensive than staying with family.
Overall, there are many advantages and disadvantages of both livings with or away from family. Students and parents should take this into consideration and should think twice before deciding.
