This diagram depicts the predatory patterns of fish.There are less fish present during daylight hours but they are more likely to prey on the sessile hard substrate assemblages on the ocean floor. In contrast, during the night, more fish gather in this area but they remain relatively dormant. If artificial lighting is used at night, the fish will revert back to their daytime behavioural patterns. This indicates that fish are very sensitive to ambient luminosity.
